Botswana – Home of the Black Rhino

The black rhino is not easy to find, not only because it’s a rare breed, but because only a few African countries are home to this magnificent animal. The Black rhino is actually grey in colour, and it mainly eats leafy plants, branches and shoots.

You wouldn’t think it, but even with such an enormous body, they’re capable of reaching up to 34 mph, running on their toes. Due to illegal poaching and habitat changes, they’re classed as critically endangered, and Botswana, Tanzania and Kenya are three of the only countries where you’re able to see these magnificent creatures.

If you’re a big rhino fan then Botswana could well be worth a visit, but make sure you have an expert guide if you’re looking to find a family of Black rhino because the fact is they are very rare.
