We all like to be organised and have a plan, especially when in an unknown country, possibly alone. However, if you are too organised, you can miss out on some incredible experiences that are right under your nose. It is never going to be easy, but you should try your best to create a balance, where you can feel safe and comfortable but also remain open to trying out new things. After all, that is what travelling is about – experiencing new foods, cultures and atmospheres.
When you go to a new place, go with some ideas in mind but perhaps don’t create a full itinerary. This way, you can feel that you have carried out adequate planning but you don’t have to restrict yourself either. Listen to local people and see what they have to say. Their recommendations are often the best and will help you to live like a local.
